Hebrew 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
Webster defines faith as “trust in the honesty and truth of another”. We must believe God is honest in His promises and will therefore bring them to pass. Be it salvation, healing, blessing, protection, power, grace, peace, joy and all other promises. A person’s prayer is as strong as that persons trust in God.
How Do You Get Faith? Faith comes by the Word of God
Romans 10:17 “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”
The word of God produces faith, and faith when produced in the heart becomes the source and channel through which grace, power, and blessings flows into our lives. Faith therefore, becomes the hands with which we receive from God. The eyes with which we sees God. Faith is the currency of the spiritual realm as money is the currency of the natural realm. If you need anything, you go to the store and buy it with your money. On the other hand, if you need, peace, joy, healing, and blessings, you buy them with your faith from the storehouses of heaven.
Salvation By Faith
John 1:12 “But as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His name.”
The word of God contains God’s power, and this power works in every person that has faith in God. As we receive the word of God by faith, we receive the very nature of God himself. We become partaker of His divine nature. 2 Peter 1:3-4 “As His divine power has given to us all things that pertain t life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.”
The power of God through His word quickened our dead spirit when we received that incorruptible seed of His word and believed it. Ephesians 2:1 “And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins.”
Promises of God are received by Faith
John 10:10 In this Scripture we found that Christ came that "we might have life and have it more abundantly", and by faith this life is imparted to us. I want you to know that as you receive Christ, and as He dwells in your heart by faith, there is within you a divine power, the power of limitless possibilities.
As a result of this indwelling presence, God wants to do great things for you and through you. By faith, as we receive and accept His Son, God brings us into sonship, and not only into sonship, but into joint-heirship, into sharing together with Him all that the Son possesses. To be saved by faith that is in Christ Jesus is to be brought from the kingdom of darkness into the kingdom of light, from death to life, from the realm of the ordinary to realm of the extra-ordinary, and from the realm of the natural to the realm of the supernatural.
Faith is stepping out in advance of an answer
Faith is activated by willingness to act on God's word with absolute confidence. Peter provides a good example. He was willing to act on the single word of Jesus "Come". It was only one word, but when Peter acted on that word, he was able to walk on water before he started sinking because of fear of the wind. So, when you start acting on God's word in faith, ignore the wind so as not to sink like Peter.
Illustration of Faith of a little girl
This story illustrates the stepping out in faith. A five-year old girl came to her father one day and requested a doll house. The father promised to build one for her and went back to reading and interesting book. Shortly after, he looked out of the window and saw her little girl with her arms filled with toys and dolls, carrying them to the corner of the yard, where by now she had gathered a great pile of them. The Father asked his wife what the purpose of that pile could be. The wife said, "oh you promised her a doll house, and she believed you. She is getting ready for it." The father quickly put the book aside, raced down to the lumber yard for supplies and built her little girl a doll house that day.
God is waiting for a faith that launches out even when no answer is in view. When we pray for rain we should get our umbrella ready. When we pray for God's power and anointing, we should get ready to act.
Faith is to expect an a miracle
Mark 11:24 "Therefore I say unto you, what things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." True faith always expects an answer. Believe! Believe! Believe!
