HOLY SPIRIT POWER

I imagine how quickly the disciples would run to Christ to tell Him of their griefs, and how sweetly, with that matchless intonation of His voice, He would speak to them and bid their fears be gone.

Every want, every groan, every sorrow, and every agony would at once be carried to Him, and He, like a wise physician, had a ointment and medication for every wound.

He had a solution for their every care, and He readily dispensed mighty remedies for all of the fever of their troubles.

Holy Spirit is the person to explain Scripture, to be the authoritative Oracle of God. He makes dark things light. He unravel mysteries, untwist all knots of revelation. He make us to understand what we could not discover had it not been for His influence. No man ever learn anything correctly unless he is taught by the Spirit.

There is no doctrine of the Bible which can be safely, thoroughly, or truly learned without the one authoritative Teacher – the Holy Spirit.

Holy Spirit is the great Teacher who will instruct the sons of God and make us wise to understand all things.

The Holy Ghost is resting in the hearts of His children.

The Holy Spirit is called the advocate because He plead against the enemies of the Cross. He make us bold as lion, our hearts strong as steel, and our words as a piercing sword.

It is simply not men who pleaded, but it was God the Holy Ghost pleading through them.

We who are the advocates of the truth are often very poor pleaders. We spoil our cause by the words we use, but it is a mercy that the Holy Ghost will advocate successfully through us and overcome each sinner’s opposition.

Holy Ghost makes them aware of sin, of righteousness, and of the judgment to come.

Blessed Advocate, plead in my heart, and plead with my conscience. When I sin, make my conscience bold to tell me. When I made a mistake, make my conscience speak at once, and when I turn aside to crooked ways, advocate the cause of righteousness and suggest I sit down in confusion, knowing my guiltiness in the sight of God.

ELIJAH’S PLEA

Let it be known this day….that I have done all these things at Your word
- 1 Kings 18:36

“The word of the Lord came to Elijah” 1 Kings 17:21

Lord let Your word come to me as it came to Elijah and all the prophets of old.

Lord let me never act on my own, may you be the direct source of all my thoughts, deeds, speech and actions.

May I move according to Your divine instructions, and speak according to Your divine leading.

Faith in God is true wisdom. Childlike confidence in the Word of God is the highest form of common sense.

To believe Him who cannot lie and to trust in Him who cannot fail is a kind of wisdom that none but fools will laugh at.

An ambassador never dreams that his authorized acts will be repudiated by his king. If a man acts as your agent and does as you direct, the responsibility for his actions lies with you, and you must back him up. It would, indeed, be an atrocious thing to send a servant on an errand and, when he had faithfully performed it to the letter, to deny having sent him.

It is not so with God. If we will only trust Him enough to do as He commands, He will never fail us. He will see us through, though earth and hell should stand in the way.

It may not be today or tomorrow, but as surely as the Lord lives, the time will come when he who trusted in Him will have joy as a result of His trustworthiness.

Obedient believers can take Elijah’s plea as a firm basis for prayer.

You are not sent on a frivolous errand. You are not called to sow dead seed that will ever spring up.

Therefore, when that anxiety weighs heavily on your heart, go to the mercy seat with this as one of your arguments:

Lord, I have acted according to Your Word. Now let it be seen that it is so. Confirm your Word.

I have preached Your Word, and You have said, “It shall not return to Me void’ – Isaiah 55:11

I have prayed for these people, and You have said, “The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much – James 5:16; let it be seen that this is according to Your Word.

As a teacher you can say “I have brought my children in supplication before You, and I have gone forth, after studying Your Word, to teach them, to the best of my ability, the way of salvation. Now, Lord, I claim it of Your truth that You should justify my teaching and my expectation by allowing me to see the souls of my children saved by You, through Jesus Christ, Your Son.”

Do you see that you have a good argument, if the Lord has appointed you to do this work? He has, as it were, bound Himself by that very fact to support you in the doing of it.

If you, with holy diligence and carefulness, do all these things according to His Word, then you may come with certainty to the throne of grace and say to Him.

“Do as You have said. Have You not said “He who continually goes forth weeping, bearing seed for sowing, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.” Psalm 126:6 Lord I have done that; give me my sheaves.

You have said, “cast your bread upon the waters, for you will find it after many days” Eccl 11:1, Lord I have done that, therefore, I implore You to fulfill Your promise to me.”

You may plead in this fashion with the same boldness that made Elijah say in the presence of all the people,

“Let it be known this day that You are God in Israel and I am Your servant, and that I have done all these things at Your word.” - I Kings 18:36

If anyone, in any church, can go before God and say, “Lord, we have had among us the preaching of the Gospel, and we have earnestly prayed for the blessing. We have gathered about your minister, and we have held him up in the arms of prayer and faith. We have, as individual Christians, sought out our particular realms of service, we have all gone out to bring in souls to You, and we have lived in godliness of life by the help of Your grace. Now therefore, prosper Your work in our hands.

Real prosperity must come to any church that walks according to Christ’s rules, obeys Christ’s teaching, and is filled with Christ’s Spirit.

I would exhort all members of churches that are in a poor way right now to see to it that all things are done according to God’s Word and then to wait in hope in holy confidence. The fire from heaven must come. The blessing cannot be withheld.

The same principle also may be applied to any individual believers who are in trouble because they have done what is right.

It often happens that a man feels, “I could make money, but I must not, for the proposed course of action would be wrong. Such a situation is open, but it involves what my conscience does not approve. I will suffer instead of profiting by doing anything that is questionable.”

It may be that you are in great trouble, clearly through your obedience to God. In that case, you are the one above all others who may lay this case before the Most High:

Lord I have done all these things at Your Word, and you have said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you’ Heb 13:5 I implore You to intervene for me.

Lord stir me up to pray mightily, stir me up, so that, like Jacob, I will not let You go until You have blessed me! As you wait on the Lord, He will cause you to find rest for your soul.

Therefore “Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you. I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.” 2 Corinthians 6:17-18

Lord, what would You have me do? No matter what it is, I will do it, for I am Your servant.”
